As you may know, Federal legislation known as HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) has requirements relating to the sharing of personal health information (PHI). Each Regional Centers contract with the State of California now requires that it have an agreement with each service provider that we work with that contains assurances that they will appropriately safeguard such information. It is required that this be in writing as an agreement between the parties.

Providers either have received or will be receiving a letter from us that explains the requirement and includes the agreement to be completed and returned to us. That letter will also contain information on who to contact should you have any questions. Your cooperation in this effort is appreciated!

The Department of Developmental Services has announced that rates for Community Care Facilities have increased effective January 1, 2018.

Please remember that law and regulation requires that the provider have a written authorization from the regional center in advance to be assured that payment will be made for the services. This is for the initiation of new services AND the continuation of existing services. If you as a provider are in need of an authorization and for some reason unable to reach the service coordinator for the client, you can always ask to speak with the on-duty worker or the Regional Manager who can assist you.
